Chrome Flwrs is helping local families get ready for the new school year with The Backpack Project, a free backpack giveaway for elementary school students.

The giveaway will take place at 185 Nassau Avenue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Each child with a parent or legal guardian can receive one free backpack while supplies last.

A backpack may seem like one small item, but it’s something a child will carry to school every day.

The Backpack Project is our way of helping local families check one important thing off their list before the new school year begins.

About the Giveaway

The giveaway is taking place at Chrome Flwrs on Nassau Avenue toward the southern side of Greenpoint, near McGolrick Park.

We’ll be handing out one backpack per child and only while supplies last, so coming earlier in the day may give you a better chance of getting one.

You don’t need to buy anything to participate. Your child just needs to be there with a parent or legal guardian.

The event runs from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., but it may end earlier if all backpacks have already been given out.
